Why do so many marriages end in divorce? Well there are many reasons and it seems as if our generation are looking at the older folks and wondering why on earth would anyone need to get married anyways. According to research approximately half of the marriages in the USA end in divorce. So basically you’re telling your children that there is a 50/50 chance of living in bliss for just their wedding day and then it all gets crappy from there.

What does the Bible have to say about divorce? : “But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.” Matthew 5:32

“I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.” Matthew 19:9

“If a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him….But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.” 1 Corinthians 7:13, 15.

It becomes increasingly clear to me, day by day, that our hearts need to be set on the same wavelength with God’s will. Not just getting a boyfriend or girlfriend because we’re kinda attracted to him/her or just to have a companion. Jumping in and out of relationships to fill a void that only God can fill with His everlasting love.

For I would that all men were even as I myself…. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. — 1 Corinthians 7:7-9 No we don’t have to get married, as long as we are ready to live as purely as possible. Even within marriage we should be pure, love the God, love the spouse, communicate, pray together.
